It begins at the end of a residential housing development on Alvernon Way (there is a small parking lot for hikers that closes at sunset) and ends at Mt. Kimball. It is one of the steepest hikes in town with an elevation change of 4155 feet. The lower parts of the trail near the entrance tend to be the most traveled and are popular with the locals.
